History

Jonathan Larr began his career in a unique hybrid role as an artist manager and a music lawyer. He handled the day to day management as well as legal concerns of artists in the US, Europe and Australia.

In 2016 he closed down the artist management practice to focus on his legal work. His clients include artists who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, significant video game composers and numerous artists signed to major labels and publishers in the US and the UK. He recently expanded his practice to include music tech related work.

In the music tech field, he has clients who are funded Web3 and generative AI companies as well as prominent music tech research DAOs. He specializes in the intersection of these technologies with music rights.

He is also an in-demand speaker, having spoken on panels for the Entertainment Law Society of the LA County Bar Association, Venice Music Group/Water and Music, California Copyright Conference and in multiple UCLA classes besides his own.

In addition to his practice, he teaches music business at UCLA and USC Gould School of Law. He is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, City of Hope Future Hope, the California Copyright Conference, Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Association of Independent Music Publishers.
